May 31st - June 8th

A Curated Week in Provence

Bonjour et bienvenue !

I am your host and have the privilege of sharing with you a beautiful June week in Provence ! A small village of Goult, which I now call home, will be your home for a week. I promise you will not be disappointed. Your experience will be unique and hopefully give you something to take home more valuable than an Hermès scarf ( …and their family has a home very close by.)

The marchés are not as crowded this season . The cheeses and vegetables  have changed from the summer months . Now in the marchés are wild mushrooms, many varieties of squashes,  winter greens like spinach and leeks, chestnuts and walnuts, as well as apples, figs and honey. It is like a play where nature has changed the scenery !

Provence in autumn, the sun casts an iconic golden light on the landscape producing fiery shades of orange, red, and yellow against the perfectly blue sky. The bergers (shepherds) are moving the goats and sheep which you might see in the vineyards cleaning up the weeds and fertilizing the soil.

Autumn is also a perfect season for our days of hiking, biking ,picnics, and truffle hunting . The temperatures have cooled from the hot July and August months but with clear warm days and cool evenings for a sweater or jacket and scarf ! The temperature range is usually high in high 60’s and lows in the 50’s.

So what will we be doing together this week? Meeting other like- minded nature lovers , artists, and lovers of seasonal Provençal cuisine for a week of activités including a watercolor class at the home of an artist in the village then after enjoy a picnic together on her beautiful property. We will spend a morning with a truffle hunter and learn about the truffle and why it is so valuable and unique to the Luberon. We will travel by vélos ( bikes) between villages, exploring the countryside along the way. Another day we will visit the atelier of Alain, who creates pottery with ochre to produce the Aptoise pottery. And hikes..we will hike the ochre trail of Roussillon.

It will be a week of exploring Provençal life, always influenced by the seasons. The autumn season is a most special time in Provence ! 🍁🍂

I hope you will join me!

À bientôt, Beth

Truly the trip of a lifetime...
